- This diagnosis is used when the diagnosis is unclear for any reason and/or there is unusual staining and the contract laboratory would like to send in samples to NVSL for review. Anytime this diagnosis is used, all tissues, blocks and slides must be sent to NVSL within five days for review. Comments describing why the sample is being sent in for review must be included on the 10-4 laboratory submission form sent to NVSL with the samples. Note - any sample that is being referred to NVSL can only have a diagnosis of either repeat or suspect. Additionally, comments can only be added to VSLS on samples that are being referred to NVSL.
