HL70078 |

ISL |
Incorrect Sample Location |
HL70078 |
- Although PrP-res was not detected in this sample, the specimen received was not from the preferred location recommended for testing. Therefore, the significance of this result is unknown.
|
IND |
Indeterminate |
HL70078 |
|
ILF-L |
Insufficient follicles-location |
HL70078 |
- There was an insufficient number of follicles (less than 6) in the sampe. Additionally, the sample was not collected from the preferred location.
|
ILF |
Insufficient Lymphoid Follicles |
HL70078 |
- There was an insufficient number of lymphoid follicles (less than 6) in the sample. Note - also use this on eyelid samples with no lymphoid follicles.

I |
Intermediate. Indicates for microbiology susceptibilities only. |
HL70078 |

MS |
Moderately susceptible. Indicates for microbiology susceptibilities only. |

N |
Normal (applies to non-numeric results) |
HL70078 |
|
NDET |
Not Detected |
HL70078 |
- Analyte or organism has not been detected at levels that can be detected by the current test. It is possible to have analyte or organism present at levels below the sensitivity of the current testing or be present in tissues not tested.
|
NT |
Not tested |
HL70078 |
- This term should be used on samples that are submitted in good condition, but are not tested because it is unnecessary to test the sample. An example where NT would be used is a case in which an additional tissue was submitted to the laboratory but was not tested.
|
POS |
Positive |
HL70078 |
|
SCS |
PrPres (Suspect) |
HL70078 |
- IHC staining present that is consistent with the disease tested for. This diagnosis is used in place of the term positive because an animal is only designated positive after additional testing has been completed at NVSL. Anytime this diagnosis is used, all tissues, blocks, and slides must be sent to NVSL within five days for review.
|
QCF |
Quality Control Failure |
HL70078 |
|
SCR |
Repeat. Diagnosis is unclear for any reason and/or there is unusual staining. Only used with Scrapie reporting. |
HL70078 |
|
RV |
Repeat/Review |
HL70078 |
- This diagnosis is used when the diagnosis is unclear for any reason and/or there is unusual staining and the contract laboratory would like to send in samples to NVSL for review. Anytime this diagnosis is used, all tissues, blocks and slides must be sent to NVSL within five days for review. Comments describing why the sample is being sent in for review must be included on the 10-4 laboratory submission form sent to NVSL with the samples. Note - any sample that is being referred to NVSL can only have a diagnosis of either repeat or suspect. Additionally, comments can only be added to VSLS on samples that are being referred to NVSL. For example, the system won’t allow you to give a sample an ND diagnosis, then add a comment, and refer it to NVSL

R |
Resistant. Indicates for microbiology susceptibilities only. |
HL70078 |
|
D |
Significant change down |
HL70078 |
|
U |
Significant change up |
HL70078 |
|
S |
Susceptible. Indicates for microbiology susceptibilities only. |
HL70078 |
|
UNA |
Unacceptable |
HL70078 |
- This term should be used on poor quality samples that are not testable due to the poor condition of the sample. Several examples would be samples with severe autolysis, samples in broken containers, samples with no identification, and other reasons. Anytime this diagnosis is used, the laboratory needs to contact the submitter or other USDA staff and discuss what was wrong with the sample so that the problem can be prevented on future samples.
|
SCU |
Unsuitable |
HL70078 |
- Sample unsuitable for this assay.
|
AA |
Very abnormal (applies to non-numeric units, analogous to panic limits for numeric units) |
HL70078 |
|
VS |
Very susceptible. Indicates for microbiology susceptibilities only. |
