C Concentration Point Targeted Surveillance L
  • Used for testing animals present at concentration points or comingling events. For example, sale barns, slaughter plants, fairs, or animal shows.
DC Dangerous Contact L
  • Regulatory category where it is highly suspected that the Premise will break with disease which allows for definitive action to curtail spread even before diagnosis.
SA Diagnostic Sick Animal surveillance L
  • Testing conducted under the authority of an approved lab to test a submitted specimen for reportable disease based on program criteria. Example: Diagnostic Sick Pig surveillance for ASF/CSF. This submission reason would not be given by a specimen submitter, but would be used as an additional or new submission reason by the lab in order to ensure that the results enter the stream of data for the given disease.
EE Emerging Event L
  • Used, when directed by NAHLN, for testing in situations where it is suspected, but not yet confirmed, that an outbreak is possible. One example is incidents where a known disease program pathogen is found in a novel population. May also be used in testing related to Unexplained Mortality Event (UME).
E Export L
  • Used when testing animals prior to transport to a foreign country.
F FAD Diagnostics L
  • Samples that are submitted as part of an original foreign animal disease investigation.
G General Diagnostics L
  • Diagnostic testing conducted to determine the cause of disease or illness in an animal. May be indirectly indicated within LIMS when the submission includes the ordering of a number of different diagnostic tests.
H Health Monitoring L
  • Used for surveillance conducted outside of a national surveillance program, or for monitoring healthy animals, herds or flocks.
HH High risk premises L
  • Premises with a confirmed or suspected exposure to a reportable disease, for example through exposure to wild animals, by fenceline contact, or by introduction of potentially infected animal/s to the premises.
W High risk wildlife L
  • Testing of wildlife or feral animals that are at high risk for transmitting the disease being tested for to livestock or commercial animals.
I Import L

  • Testing conducted as part of the National Poultry Improvement Program.
OM Outbreak Movement L
  • Permitting of animals for movement specifically during an Outbreak

SC Slaughter condemnation L
  • Subject was condemned at antemortem or postmortem inspection and therefore considered high risk.
S Surveillance L
  • Used for outbreak and outbreak recovery surveillance testing inside designated control and surveillance zones which includes environmental testing.
N Surveillance, National L

T Traceback L
  • Premise or animal that has been epidemiologically linked to a confirmed or suspect reportable disease case.
