Why Register?
UMLS Registration required to download files
Viewing and searching the terminology within our browser does NOT require registration. You only need to accept the License presented when you enter our Browser area. But if you want to download and work with the native SNOMED extension files, you must register for a license with National Library of Medicine's UMLS. We use their authentication service to verify that you are eligible to download SNOMED derivatives.
Receive Notifications
Registered users received notifications when the VetSCT and its subset are updated. While this is generally done on a set schedule (Apr 1 and Oct 1), there are sometimes mid-cycle updates and registered users are notified about.
New User Registration:
STEP 1:
Register at National Library of Medicine's UMLS Terminology Service. (link below)
STEP 2:
Wait for UMLS approval (can take up to 3 business days)
STEP 3:
Once approved, return to this page and login below using the email address associated with your UMLS account. Once authenticated the first time, you will be taken to a local registration page to give us more information about you and your organization. Please fill out this form to ensure you will receive all notifications.
